A set of sixteen characters representing strokes used in writing Han characters were added at 31C0..31CF to Unicode 4.1; and 20 more were added at 31D0..31E3 in Unicode 5.1. However, the names of the CJK stroke characters are rather abstruse, using a sequence of one or more letters to represent a sequence of one or more stroke elements, each letter being the first letter of the pinyin romanization for the Chinese character by which the particular stroke element is known :
